We wanted to do a blog post, in order to help you all find some of our basic concepts a little bit easier.

We want to thank our fans again for building and supporting GOATA, in order to create the massive hive of athletes and Coaches we have today. Keep saving those knees!

If you hang around the GOATA community for long enough you may just hear the phrase "saving the world's connective tissue" getting thrown around by either Coach Gil or another one of the GOATA Coaches. The nonchalantness of this phrase being said by the coaches may have you stop and think "ah well, that's just another one of their sayings that they love so much." Although, unlike many of the things said at GLS & GOATA "saving the world's connective tissue" takes the cake in what GOATA Coaches feel is most important about what they teach. This phrase holds bearing on a GOATA coaches mindset of preventing the injury by using a better quality of movement in their athletes, which explains why so many of our athletes remain durable, and injury resistant. If a coach is just focused on making you strong, then you will get strong. If a coach is just focused on how fast you move through space, than you will get faster. If a coach is focused on keeping you durable, pain free...
Coach GOATA Joe's climb to fame in the community and hive has been a turbulent and challenging one. Even if you did not count the pain in his knees and aches in his body before he met Coach Gil, GOATA Joe has persevered through many challenges in his life. When I first interviewed GOATA Joe, he mentioned how difficult the GOATA movement system was on his body, when his body was changing his movement in the very start, I remember him clearly stating that it felt "weird." With trust and dedication he learned to master the GOATA Movement system, and found himself quickly climbing to a fluid moving level 10 GOATA. While he is skilled enough to train athletes himself as a coach, he is dedicated to becoming a professional football player in the NFL, and shows excessively fast speeds in his 40 yard dash, which are much faster than when he began with GOATA. However, along with the performance increase, GOATA Joe has also felt a relief in pain due to his movement efficiency and a faster...
Recreating the innate pattern that saves joints, prevents muscle tears and unnecessary itis's has been a long and tedious path, Coach Gil, Frequently talks about "cognitive dissonance" and the same cognitive dissonance he experienced almost 30 years ago before he found Pete Egoscue. Cognitive Dissonance defined by oxford is "the state of having inconsistent thoughts, beliefs, or attitudes, especially as relating to behavioral decisions and attitude change." Should I listen to my Doctor if my body always hurts or Should I stop working out if every time I try too, if it strains my knees or my back?" If you are cognitively dissonant toward the world of recovery and posture than your answer may be "yes," I will listen to my doctor and get an overpriced surgery that will be hard if not impossible to recover from. Or, I will listen to my Doctor telling me I need to take pills to solve a minuscule pain in my knee. Or... "no" I want to look for different, more modern solutions to my...
This week we have a write up from one of our Master GOATA Coaches, Cody, about the healthcare industry and how treatment we receive today can be equated to how we treat problems with our automobile, often after the damage has been done.
Proactive care, and preventative maintenance is far LESS expensive than refusing to diagnose problems before they cause damage.
So why does the current system lean towards reactive care?
This was an interview done by the writer of the Tiger Details column, big shout out to them for taking time for the interview, going over what it was like training OBJ and how efforts to reach out have been falling on deaf ears.
The recode is real is something we are seeing more and more of around the web. Here is a write up article from Tiger details. On a mission to save the worlds connective tissue. #therecodeisreal
Coach Gil goes through his movement education timeline with a number of books that inspired him to go further down the rabbit hole of this thing we call movement. These suggested reads became the fundamental building blocks of what we now call GOATA Movement. These books are highly recommended thumb throughs as the topics explained in each have significant impact on the understanding of how he came to the core beliefs expressed in GOATA Movement.
